Why do people our age is always so super duper concern about the affairs of the heart which is super duper complicated?

Im not talking about those who already find their other half. But those in search of one.

For eg - someone I know is keen on waiting for this girl eventhough the girl had already made it clear that she doesnt like him and will never like him.

Shouldnt there be more to life?
We are young and its 10-20 years down the road before we finally settle down to get married, agree?
&
along that 10-20 years, we can/surely/will find a more suitable partner.

And for me, Im wondering why I get myself in such a mess!
